У "настоящих raid-ов" имеется собственный (достаточно не слабый) процессор,
собственный кэш приличного объема и еще куча всякой "обвязки". А то, что сейчас
интегрируется в "материнки" - фигня. Вся нагрузка такого рэйда ложится на процессор.
И в случае "смерти" on-board raid'а оч большая вероятность того, что на другом
on-board raid'е ваш массив просто не поднимется (в отличие от software raid,
созданного средствами OS).
