Subject: [Comm] запуск php скриптов в Apache

одна чудная программка идет с набором php скриптов, позволяющих
просматривать через браузер результаты ее деятельности
для этой цели рекомендовано поставить Apache, за сим советы заканчиваются
уже есть мнение что настроить Apache - не поле перейти :)
вопрос чайника - как с минимальными трудозатратами заставить php скрипты
запускаться под апачем?
что имеем сейчас:
1 апач с нуля от apt-get
2 если ввести в браузере имя моего сервера - получаем страничку от апача:

Apache web server <http://apache.lexa.ru/> software on this system was
successful.
3 если ввести адрес интересующего скрипта относительно /var/www/html то
видим содержимое скрипта, а вовсе не его работу
