В принципе просто. Из коробки 2.6 там достаточно древнее.
Зато ставится просто. Из Сизифа - можно, но сложнее.
Я себе недавно поставил k-i-std26-up-2.6.12-alt4.
Дополнительно пришлось обновить mkinitrd
(в новых ядрах ide в модулях) и modutils
(из-за новых nvidia).
В основном проблема при обновлении из
Сизифа в том, что там xorg вместо xfree,
ну и так по-мелочи. Поэтому nvidia_glx
собирать пришлось самому версию из Сизифа
со спеком из backports/updates.
В случае с ATI все сложнее, ИМХО.
Через dri может и заработает, а с fglrx -
не знаю, возможно что-то тоже придется пересобрать.
У меня их нет, поэтому точнее сказать не могу.
P.S.: Главный вопрос, зачем Вам 2.6?
