В версии 1.х под Win требовалось ставить драйвера. Для 2.х
этого уже не требуется. Palm-часть как раз занимается
реализацией USB-Storage.

15 у.е. - не такие уж и большие деньги. Нормальный кардридер
стоит дороже (ну или почти столько же). Но тут каждый выбирает
сам ... ;)
