Чем отрезали раздел? fdisk'ом? Если да, то у него иногда наблюдается
глюк такого рода -- не проходит синхронизация новой геометрии. Судя по
всему, причина в том, что кто-то из программ "держит" дисковое
устройство. В этом случае мне помогала только перезагрузка.
