Ну конечно! :) Зачем же мучаться. Сделайте dist-upgrade для одной
машины в спокойной обстановке, чтоб убедиться в отсутствии граблей и
вперед...! Я ж правильно понимаю, что конфигурация всех машин
сходная? Затем делаем образ типичной системы и накатываем на все
остальные... Можно так же на чистые машины ставить компакт по
минимуму, консоль+апт(+Хы если сомневаетесь, что потом поднимете
быстро и правильно) и полное обновление уже с фтп.
