Я leafnode (брал у автора на сайте) на работе ставил - работало
все нормально. Дополнительный бонус - при подписке очередного
юзера на новости не скачивается заново список групп с сервера (а
это мегабайт 40). Причем закачку новостей ставил на ночь, чтоб
линию днем разгрузить.
Весной в linux announcement еще один offline'овый news-reader
пробегал - wolf-чего-то-там назывался (не записал, теперь мучаюсь
сам - не могу вспомнить).
