Нужно прописать в /etc/X11/XF86Config
в секции FontPath
следующие строки
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/***"
где вместо *** подставить реально существуещие каталоги со шрифтами
для X-сервера
к сожалению итилита XFdrake (в девичестве configurator)
самостоятельно щрифты не прописывает
кстати...
начиная с релиза 7.2 появилась утилита xf86cfg,
которая корректнее конфигурирует Иксы если видеокарта отличатеся от S3
а мышь от Genius 2Button
