Не знаю, я им не пользуюсь. Может быть, он какой-нибудь журнал пишет?
Или, скажем, "многословный" (verbose) режим имеет? На худой конец,
можно попробовать потыкать его strace'ом (это очень грустно, но,
возможно, он не может найти файлы темы) или посмотреть в исходный код
(насколько читаем ли код KDE4 - опять же не в курсе).
