Готовлю не идеальное, но решение.
PS: записки в пути: позавчера испёк образы i586/x86_64 kde.dvd,
но сессия запускается только startx'ом -- из kdm вылетает сразу:

Оказывается, надо было ещё и перезагрузиться. :-/
(выяснять, кого в каком порядке из этой безумной
оравы надо передёрнуть -- решил, что слабо)
Поскольку искалось не очень, решил хоть так зафиксировать.
