Ну а дальше ставите что вам надо. Если с инетом не туго, то ставите с него и
подтягивайте по инету то, что вам надо.

Можно. Только в десктопе этого нет. А можно поставить Alt Linux 4 Junior, где
средства разработки присутствуют.

Попробуйте. Думаю не должно ни чего слететь в /home, если он у вас отдельным
разделом и вы его трогать не будете.

Это надо смотреть как и что получится.
