Ноутбук старый, воспользовался советом 3. Все отлично поставилось.
Поначалу на экране была горизонтальная полоса, на которой ничего не
отображалось и даже мышь ее "перепрыгивала". Но после копания в биосе в
настройках экрана это исчезло. Все работает. Не тормозит, хотя машина реально
убога. Осваиваю xfce, немного смущает отсутствие ProcessTable.
ЧТО ЗАБАВНО: Всячески хваленый Ubuntu вчера на этот ноутбук вставать
отказался. После заставки экран становился черным, и дальше диск иногда
шуршал, но ничего не происходило часами.
