Так-как вы собираете для себя, то это можно прописать и локально
в .rpmmacros или изменить спек, заменив макрос %_desktopdir на
%_datadir/applications
Как я понимаю в backports лежат пакеты rpm-* с новыми масросами, можно
их обновить, с тем что-бы новые rpm-макросы у вас были обновлены уже на
системном уровне и не иметь проблем с ними.
