Там есть ещё модуль megaraid2 - возможно, он работает лучше.

Пишет, что можно, но на самом деле это не работает. Впрочем, можно
подмонтировать дискетку, когда запустится графическая часть инсталятора
(там есть shell на 2-й консоли), и вручную подсунуть необходимые файлы.

Как не помогло - виснет или не находит устройство?

Плохо... Надо бы чем-то извлечь оттуда lspci -vvx (ну или как минимум
-v).
