Кэш бросается _быстро_. Для ещё быстрее и проще есть
зарезервированный кусок (см. вывод free).

С трудом вспоминаемая проблема, кажется, имела отношение
и к кривому железу (точнее, фирмваре -- BIOS).
Впрочем, зуб не дам (хоть и отремонтировал)...
