Это было предположение. Значит, /etc/sysconfig/bootsplash учитывается?
Тогда нормально. В понедельник доберусь до экспериментального компа,
попробую.

Ну, что при установке пакета этот сервис надо включать, я согласен. Но
почему он не отключается? Опять-таки это было бы вполне логично.
Поставил пакет, увидел сплэш на первой консоли, впечатлился, повозился,
надоело --- выключил сервис и всё. "Красивость" останется только на
загрузчике.
