А как именно не работает - ругается, что нет звуковых устройств, или
делает вид, что играет, но ничего не слышно? Во втором случае нужно
запустить alsamixer и выставить там громкость и снять флажок Mute с
нужных каналов (причём встречаются странности вроде сползания
регулировок куда-нибудь на Headphones).
Покажите вывод lspci -v и содержимое /etc/modules.conf.
