С литературы.

Tobias Oetiker, Hubert Partl, Irene Hyna, Elisabeth Schlegl. <<Не
очень краткое введение в LaTeX>>
Обе книги на русском, болтаются в сети, найти нетрудно.
В качестве справочника очень хорош <<Путеводитель по пакету LaTeX
и его расширению LaTeX2e>> Гуссенса, Миттельбаха и Самарина, но
учиться по нему не получится. :-)
А использовать, если пользуетесь LyX, можно именно из него,
вставляя в чистом LaTeX'е то, что средствами LyX'а не
отрабатывается. А для работы с чистым LaTeX'ом удобен kile, про
который я тут уже говорил. Есть ещё TeXmacs, но его я не знаю.
Под виндами лучше всего, из виденного мной, TeXnic Center
(кстати, он тоже под свободной лицензией, воровать или покупать
необходимости нет).
