у меня были похожие грабельки
возможно ты собрал поддержку eepro100 в ядро, а не модулем - в ядре у меня не
хотела работать.
а еще можешь попробовать модуль от Intel - e100
P.S. и не забудь в /etc/modules.conf прописать
alias eth0 eepro100
или
alias eth0 e100
