А, понял. Надо грузить matroxfb_base - он за собой вытянет остальное.
Как раз у этого модуля куча параметров (modinfo matroxfb_base).
А с vga=... включается vesafb, который ничего не умеет, а потом другой
модуль не инициализируется.
