Выбрось бяку (мастай то бишь) - пользуй mozille (а еще лучше galeon - не
хуже mozilla, на том же движке + шрифты сами у него прописались как
надо).
Чтобы в мозиле увидеть твои TTF шрифты (ту же tahoma) нужно в файле
/usr/lib/mozilla/res/Xft/fonts.conf дописать путь к папке где твои TTF-ы
сидят (при условии что они корректно прописаны в системе (видны в
gnomefontselector)
У меня это выглядит так:

<dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/msttf</dir>
<dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/myttffonts</dir> - вот тут и лежит мой
tahoma и прекрасно виден в mozila =)
PS: А можно еще подправить размер шрифта которым выводятся все менюшки в
самой мозиле. Для этого надой в директории ~/.mozilla найти директорию
chrome а в ней файлик userChrome.css и в нем в строке:
@namespace
url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");
* {
font-size: 9pt !important
}
Вот эти 9pt и есть размер шрифта (ну это у меня 9pt уже подправлены), а
то как-то крупновато все там было раньше при 12pt =)
