Per se?
e100.c достаточно подробно рассказывает, для 3com стоит
заглянуть к Donald Becker -- кажется, там еще что-то было.
Также mii-tool (из net-tools), ethtool.
Также httperf и пара других тестов. Например, wget -O /dev/null
ftp://testsys/bigfile при достаточно быстром диске "там".
Также ping -f -s 65000 8) и bing, но последнее скорее для
тестирования сети, нежели сегмента.

Да, плюс есть smartmontools для S.M.A.R.T, надо бы собрать (уже в
TODO).

Можете пообщаться с народом @inpc.kiev.ua, они делали железное
удаленное администрирование вплоть до проброса дискетки с
клавотурой "туда" через второй eth (самодельный).
Но это чуточку другой момент.
Также можете обсудить тему с киевскими поставщиками железа;
собственно, на linux.kiev.ua есть kinda рассылка под схожие темы,
но она на сейчас еще неживая. Только тогда пишите лично.
