У меня сейчас рутер работатет на CF в 256 Mb. Правда контроллер
не USB, а IDE. Если ваша motherboard умеет использовать этот
девайс как загрузочный, не вижу причин почему это нельзя сделать
(хотя они может быть и есть - с usb не сталкивался).

Выкачиваете любой *.src.rpm, Смотрите файл под названием
имя_пакета.spec. Что непонятно - читаете документацию. И/или
