А почему бы ему этим не заниматься?
Это очень удобно - подготовить диск к установке новой ОС,
причем подготовить(например освободить место, за счет
существующих разделов без потери данных) - не используя
средств какой-либо ОС. IMHO очень удобно, если все это
умеет делать бут-менеджер.
P.S.
Что касается конкретно этого менеджера, то он (в отличие от
многих других) умеет выполнять загрузку с привода CD.
