Об этом по-моему говорилось уже не 100, а 1000 раз.
И xmms тут не причем!
Драйвер вашей дешевой или встроенной звукокой карты, а вернее
сама карта поддерживает не больше 1 канала. Поэтому запустив
что-то проигрывать какой-либо программой другие программы уже не
могут ничего проиграть.
У вас есть два вариатна.
a) Более простой, поставить какой-нибудь сервер звука.
Например arts. И выводить звук через этот сервер.
Можно запускать программы так artsdsp filename_of_execute_prog
В xmms есть соотв плагин проишрывающий звук через этот сервер.
б) Купить многоканальную звуковую карту типа SBLive! Этот вариант
предпочтительней, хотя требует мат. затрат в размере ~30$.
