Непонял. Разве rsync может работать с ftp сервисом ?Ы
Или ему можно подсунуть ftp-клиента в качестве remote shell ?

Судя по всему во всём виноват виндосовзский ftp-сервер (ftp.avp.ru).
Ни fmirror ни mirrordir не в состоянии разобраться со списком файлов :(
