Вроде на линейном чтении ext2 всех делает. Но есть разные

Если нужна скорость линейного чтения, однозначно небольшой
7200rpm IDE (Quantum, Seagate Barracuda или IBM). Если имеет
место конкурентное чтение/запись/чтение+запись, тогда сказик или
памяти набить (под кэш).
