Работает от батареи, значка всё равно нет.
Описанной вами возможности не нашёл, но в настройках power-manager есть опция:
"отображать значок в системном лотке". При её активации значок появился.
Спасибо.
Мне кажется, есть смысл отображать его по умолчанию.
