Ваша информация "и вообще этих строк у меня сильно меньше, чем примерах
из рецепта" говорит о том, что ваш firefox просто "не умеет" шифрование
на эллиптических кривых. В firefox шифрование собрано статически, а
chromium и вовсе статический бинарник:

не является динамическим исполняемым файлом

Действительно, есть шанс, что , если вы соберёте старые версии браузеров
с новым libssl, оно начнёт работать, но я сомневаюсь, что соберётся без
большого бубна.
